Job Summary and Qualifications

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*

1. Answers phones, relays messages, communicates with patients/visitors, and directs information to appropriate personnel.

2. Enters exams into CPCS radiology module for CT, MRI, and Diagnostic Departments.

3. Notifies departments of patient’s arrival and escorts patients to appropriate waiting area.

4. Prepares radiology reports for distribution to physicians. Responsible for batch printing and sorting reports.

5. Calls in technologists as necessary for procedures during evenings and weekends.

6. Escorts patients to dressing rooms and provides instructions for changing into gowns as appropriate.

7. Keeps patients informed of delays in procedures.

8. Checks in outside images when received from patient for comparison.

9. Prepares outside images for return to proper facility.

10. Maintains all outpatient paperwork and reports and files appropriately.

11. Distributes images to patients as requested by patient for follow-up at other facility.

12. Pick up and deliver mail to/from mailroom.

13. Look up diagnostic studies in Meditech to determine if prior study is available on film or in PACS.

14. Participates in Peer Review process by filling out cards and routing to radiologists as appropriate.

15. Routes Preliminary Reports as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

Preferred - Secretarial experience preferably in a medical setting and additional training in office/secretarial functions and equipment.
