ELA Intervention Teacher
Purpose Statement
The ELA Intervention Teacher will create an atmosphere of trust and collaboration among staff to promote professional growth and accelerate the reading achievement of struggling readers.
Responsibilities
- The ELA Intervention Teacher is responsible for providing high-level literacy learning experiences to struggling readers.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will implement strategies to enable students to develop the literacy competencies and skills to be successful readers.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will evaluate academic growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will communicate with parents through a variety of means and assist in providing parent workshops for parents to better assist their child at home with literacy.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will identify student needs and work with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning problems.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will work with the school-level MTSS team to make instructional decisions regarding tiered intervention support.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will possess an understating of research-based and evidence-based practices in the areas of literacy acquisition.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will be flexible as the needs of students arise.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will provide literacy intervention best practice staff development to classroom teachers.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will attend and facilitate literacy team meetings as needed.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will provide targeted, prescriptive reading intervention daily.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will use district-approved intervention resources to provide Tier II and or Tier III support as directed by the administrative team.
- The ELA Intervention Teacher will administer and interpret assessment data to determine adequate progress and to identify students in need of supplemental or intensive intervention.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification in an area of Middle/Secondary ELA, Literacy Coach, Literacy Specialist, and/or Literacy Teacher
- Proven success in student reading achievement
- Knowledge of best practices in reading/language arts
- Skill in analyzing data
- Ability to be innovative and willing to promote new programs and processes
