Quality Control Manager Position
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring the proper standards, methods, drawings, and specifications are followed for all disciplines of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding of codes and standards for different trades in construction including civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation of a steel mill or similar projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage QC Inspectors to fulfill the inspection and testing requirements to codes and standards, and maintain the project schedule.
- Ensure that all the initial, periodic, and final QC submittals and packages are kept current.
- Establish vendor submittals, QC packages including material certifications, inspection records, personnel qualifications, and quality manuals for vendors working on different trades.
- Audit vendor scope of work, their QC inspection process, and ensure the scope of work is in compliance with codes and standards.
- Provide status reports to ensure satisfactory progress of the overall project.
- Ensure established milestones are achieved by various vendors.
- Travel to subcontractor facilities to inspect jobs for proper standards when required.
- Prepare turnover document packages for sign-off by owner representatives.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control and assurance positions. Certified Welding Inspector is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel. Must have supervisory experience. Familiarity with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation is required. Must be able to read and understand drawings and specifications.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently and be able to climb 25 feet. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, push, and pull frequently. Requires occasional travel with overnight stays. Exposure to temperature fluctuations and loud work environment. Overtime and weekend work may be required. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
