Position Summary
The Safety Technician works with site management under the direction of the Safety Manager to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ since a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large. We are seeking a bilingual candidate fluent in both English and Spanish to assist our clients effectively.
The Safety Technician Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Audit the job site to ensure safe work performance and compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies and procedures.
Maintain records as required by OSHA and company policy.
Assist the Safety Director as needed in the investigation of job-related injuries and accidents. Complete required incident investigation reports and assist claims personnel with claim resolution.
Provide first aid to employees for work-related injuries.
Conduct substance abuse screens in compliance with company policy.
Perform safety orientations and weekly safety meetings to ensure compliance. Performs various types of safety related training.
The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
The Safety Technician Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ Safety experience and/or 5 years’ construction experience. The current Red Cross approved First Aid and CPR Certification required. Must have excellent oral written communication skills. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. A current driver’s license with excellent driving history is required. We are seeking a bilingual candidate fluent in both English and Spanish to assist our clients effectively.
Labor Physical Demands:
Overtime, weekend work, odd hours, and overnight travel as required. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, ironwork and scaffolding to heights <200 feet. Ability to walk more than five miles per day. Must be able to lift, push, and pull 100 pounds occasionally and carry 25 pounds frequently. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations and a dusty, loud environment. Must be able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields. Must be able to respond to emergency situations and medical trauma in a calm, controlled manner. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
