Associate Health Editor
Position Summary :
WebMD is seeking a contract Associate Health Editor to report to the Executive Director, Features. The Associate Editor will work alongside a team of editors to brainstorm, assign, and edit feature stories for our consumer audience. This position requires basic medical knowledge; solid editing, writing, and interviewing skills; attention to detail; ability to meet tight deadlines; and the ability to collaborate with a large, fast-moving content team in a virtual environment.
Experience required :
- Must have 5 of years of rencet and proven experience with health content editing.
- Experience assigning clearly defined story ideas to freelancers.
- High productivity evidenced in the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to edit stories for accuracy, balance, timeliness, and relevance.
- High reliability and ability to take direction and run with it.
- Flexibility and creativity to meet the needs of a growing multimedia news team in a competitive environment.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid proofreading skills.
- Ability to clearly and succinctly translate medical jargon and academic speak to a lay audience.
The role is a hybrid position In Newark New Jersey or Atlanta, Georgia. Must be in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, remote Monday and Fridays.
Comp : $35-$45 / hr DOE while on contract and $80 / k base once the role goes full-time .
