Job Overview:
Lexington Children's Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Weekend Experience Specialist to lead and supervise the Experiences Department on weekends. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, engaging, and positive environment for guests, staff, and volunteers. The Weekend Experience Specialist will oversee operations, maintain high standards of customer service, and ensure all museum procedures are followed.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills and will bring a passion for creating memorable experiences for children and families.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support the team of Experience Associates during weekend shifts, ensuring they provide excellent customer service and follow museum procedures.
- Provide exceptional service to guests, resolving any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Oversee the facilitation of exhibits, educational programs, birthday parties, and events to ensure a high-quality visitor experience.
- Assist in training new Experience Associates and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to foster a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and a guest-focused attitude.
- Maintain knowledge of museum programming, membership options, and policies to support team and guest inquiries.
- Provide weekend updates and reports to the Experiences Director regarding visitor attendance, team performance, and operational challenges.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for any staff or visitor concerns, escalating issues to the Experiences Director as needed.
- Manage scheduling and task assignments to ensure adequate coverage of exhibits, educational programs, and special events.
- Ensure the museum is opened and closed properly, including overseeing the condition and safety of exhibits and public spaces.
- Perform cash-handling duties, including opening and closing the cash register, reconciling the cash box, and preparing deposits.
- Monitor and ensure the cleanliness and functionality of exhibits, galleries, and common areas, including supporting janitorial duties as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills/Requirements:
- Previous supervisory or management experience, preferably in customer service, education, or a museum setting.
- Guest-focused and possess a friendly, enthusiastic, and engaging personality
- Ability to handle high levels of point-of-sale processing.
- Enjoy working with children and people of all ages.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrates leadership, creativity, organization, and promptness.
- Performs effectively both independently and in collaboration with diverse groups of people, showing flexibility in order to meet guest needs.

- Communicates well with co-workers, members, visitors and the general public.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. Must be able to navigate the museum building and spaces. Must be comfortable working in a loud environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional weekday and evening shifts.
- Should have reliable transportation.
