SUMMARY:
The Echo Vascular Ultrasound Technician is primarily responsible for performing non-invasive ultrasound vascular exams for diagnostic evaluation of the heart; produces non-invasive vascular examinations; delivers reports to physicians; oversees scheduling of echo and vascular studies; prepares appropriate forms; submits patient charges daily; performs other Heart Station procedures a necessary including EKGs and Stress Tests.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MANDATORY: Registered Vascular Technologist or Ultrasound Sonographer
Formal training which will probably be indicated by registration as vascular or cardiac diagnostic technician/technologist; high school diploma or equivalent with minimum of two-years of on-the-job training as an echo vascular tech with satisfactory completion of an echocardiography and vascular course; knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system; ability to relate well with patients, communicate with physicians and maintain composure when confronted with fast-paced stressful/emergency situations; basic life support certification.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, and transport patients and equipment; manual dexterity and motor coordination, visual and auditory acuity, clear verbal articulation.
