What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic DME Coordinator (3531) ORTHOPEDICS & SPORTS MEDICINE position at Lexington Clinic?
SUMMARY:
The Orthopedic DME Coordinator is responsible for the department durable medical equipment program and a customer service representative. Responsibilities include: DME inventory management; fitting of DME products on patients; training staff on DME fitting protocols; pre-authorizing DME when necessary; maintaining and distributing all required notices, releases, consents and statement of necessity; and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the department’s DME products. The Orthopedic DME Coordinator educates patients regarding the use, maintenance, pricing and insurance coverage for products works closely with providers to ensure that treatment plans are met and meets with vendors, as appropriate, to assist providers in demonstrating new products.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by certification/license as an orthotic fitter, certification/license as an athletic trainer, or a similar certification/license; one year of on-job-training in orthopedic procedures, DME fitting and cast application under physician guidance; ability to work and communicate effectively with patients, providers, staff and vendors.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines includes the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and transport patients and materials; manual dexterity and motor coordination; articulate speech; read and understand medical information; visual acuity; keyboarding.
REQUIREMENT: CPR Certification, Basic Life Support
