What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reimbursement Specialist (3490) LC Corporate Office position at Lexington Clinic?
SUMMARY:
The Reimbursement Specialist works directly with members of the Reimbursement Department, management, and all areas of the Business office and IT in order to effectively and efficiently resolve insurance denials of payment and patient complaints; follows all billing procedures and Business office guidelines; files, follows up and researches denied insurance claims in collaboration with the Reimbursement Analysts; is responsible for monitoring and reducing denied/rejected claims by identifying denial patterns; assists in establishing billing protocol within assigned department(s) or facilities; performs charge entry functions for hospital and other non-electronic charges; performs ICD-10 coding functions from source documentation; submits Hematology/Oncology hospital billing to the University of Kentucky and works in collaboration with clinic and UK personnel to coordinate the same; maintains communication with and provides production reports to Reimbursement Management and Lead personnel; Utilizes technology resources available to optimize reimbursement and account accuracy; Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; good typing skills and mathematical calculation ability; good verbal and written communication/phone skills; applicants will preferably have two years experience in a medical office setting which may include - knowledge of medical coding; knowledge of third party fee profiles and reimbursement mechanisms; knowledge of medical terminology and coding procedures.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; utilize office equipment; read and understand medical information; visual acuity; ability to perform repetitive motions; bend, stoop, squat; ability to lift up to 25 pounds; mobility.
