What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN OR Coordinator (3473) OPERATING ROOM ASC position at Lexington Clinic?
SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse/RN Coordinator performs a variety of patient care activities and accommodative services for the Ambulatory Surgery Center patients, many in assistance to physicians; is primarily responsible for all nursing procedures, operation and care of the unit; coordinates the responsibilities of nursing and technical personnel to facilitate smooth daily operation of the operating room; assists in compiling/indexing data, including risk management, quality, trending and process improvement. Works with materials specialist to ensure appropriate supplies and materials are available for procedure; performs other duties as assigned by Manager or Administrator.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current licensure in this State as a Registered Nurse. Progressive work experience in the operating room setting of no less than one year. Current BLS certification. ACLS and PALS certification within six (6) months of date of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Competence in oral and written communication. Basic computer skills. Ability to work compatibly with patients, physicians and other staff members; detail-oriented. Have the ability to manage groups of employees.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lifting, pulling of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, push and/or pull patients or equipment up to 100 pounds. Must have visual acuity at least 20 inches or less. Must be able to identify and distinguish colors. Must have ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately. Must have ability to manipulate small objects quickly and accurately. Must be able to work with hands in turning and placing objects in space. Must be able to perceive objects accurately as to size, temperature, and texture. Must have auditory acuity. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions. Working irregular hours; greater than eight-hour shifts.
