General Summary
Under supervision of the director of instructional technology, the Digital Learning Coach is responsible for supporting teachers and students with the effective use of digital tools and strategies that enhance learning experiences. The Digital Learning Coach works collaboratively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators to create learning environments and experiences that support students to excel academically, grow as communicators, collaborators, creative thinkers, and problem solvers as well as promote growth in digital literacy, media literacy, and information literacy skills. The Digital Learning Coach must be a dynamic, dedicated, and knowledgeable professional with a deep understanding of the intersection of teaching, learning, and technology. They must be committed to continuous learning, collaboration, and the success of all students and staff in the district.
Essential Functions
Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One.
Provides support at multiple schools as assigned.
Works collaboratively with school leadership teams to identify and support the implementation of innovative teaching and learning strategies through the integration of technology, aligning supports with school and district work plans.
Utilizes data to plan for supporting school professional learning needs and to guide coaching cycles with teachers.
Assists teachers in integrating technology into their instructional strategies to enhance learning experiences.
Models innovative instructional strategies for effective tech integration.
Coaches teachers on the effective use of technology in the classroom.
Leads professional learning sessions for teachers, students, staff in a variety of modalities, including small group, coaching cycles, asynchronous, and virtual experiences.
Fosters a culture of innovation throughout the district.
Researches and advocates for the use of new and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
Promotes responsible and ethical use of digital tools and resources.
Evaluates the effectiveness of technology tools and applications used for teaching and learning, and makes recommendations for new tools as needed.
Promotes digital literacy, media literacy, information literacy, and artificial intelligence literacy among students and staff.
Collaborates with the technology and innovation division to ensure that the technology needs of teachers and students are being met.
Serves as a liaison between teachers, students, and district leadership.
Develops and provides resources and supports for teachers and students on various district platforms, software, hardware, and applications used for teaching and learning.
Strengthens parent and family engagement through technology.
Supports induction teachers and new to Lexington One teachers with focused training on district applications, platforms, software, hardware and their integration into the instructional model.
Acts as an advocate for teachers and students, serving as a trusted resource for guidance and thought-partnership regarding digital learning.
Actively engages in district digital learning coach meetings and professional learning opportunities; works collaboratively with all digital learning coach team members.
Prepares various records, forms and reports as required.
Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, equipment and tools.
Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of data, professional communication, and professional learning.
Creates and implements a personal professional learning plan focused on growth as an instructional leader.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Education / Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years teaching experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience with using digital tools and strategies for teaching and learning
Experience with instructional leadership within a school or district
Valid South Carolina teaching certification
Knowledge / Skills
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of school policies, procedures, and operations. Ability to demonstrate proper maintenance, safe operation, and utilization of equipment, materials, and supplies used in daily activities. Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in exercising duties. Ability to anticipate work to be completed and to complete work without the need for direct supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee and student records and information. Ability to interact and communicate in an effective and professional manner with supervisors, co-workers, teachers, students, and the general public.
Working Conditions
Conducts duties in classroom, lab and office environments with no significant exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Requires constant attention working with students. Requires extended use of digital and computing devices and equipment. Physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring occasional lifting / moving of items up to fifty pounds. Travel is required to provide support at multiple school sites; limited overnight travel required.
Responsibility
Responsible for maintenance and inventory of technology equipment. Responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions and safety issues.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Staff.
