Job Summary
The Treatment Nurse (TN) assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating resident skin care needs to promote resident health. The TN communicates with other Licensed Staff of the facility in evaluating resident needs to decrease risk of skin breakdown, contractures, weight loss, skin tears and so forth while in the facility. The TN assists the facility to provide education and intervention to assure prevention programs are implemented. The TN assists the Nursing Department to develop, implement and revise resident’s plan of care. The TN documents on records as per policy and procedures and participates in staff meetings as required.
Responsibilities
The Treatment Nurse works with the Director of Nursing to assure the following responsibilities are accomplished. This list is only partial and should not be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks and responsibilities.
1. Provides resident treatments and special procedures as ordered.
2. Assists/performs screenings and/or evaluations of new admissions, pre-admissions, and re- admissions in regards to skin care.
3. Assists in development and revision of plan of care as indicated by the resident’s response to treatment and the effectiveness of the overall plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
4. Consults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the resident’s care.
5. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and functions under stressful situations.
6. Treats residents and their families with respect and dignity; ensures resident confidentiality and privacy.
7. Interacts professionally with resident/family and involves resident/family in the formation of the resident-centered plan of care.
8. Works closely with DON to implement and coordinate all aspects of the facilities Treatment Program.
9. Provides job related staff teaching as necessary.
10. Have the ability to learn computer systems, system applications and related office equipment.
11. Promotes effective work relationships with the administrator, medical staff, personnel, volunteers, agencies, and management staff affiliated with the facility.
12. Participates in Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Program
13. Reviews Quality Measures and takes an active role in improving quality.
14. Assist with investigations and follow up of incidents, accidents and grievances.
15. Reports immediately to Director of Nursing and Facility Administrator, situations involving abuse, neglect, or suspicion of a crime.
16. Performs any other responsibilities as discussed and designated by the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications
1. Demonstrates leadership and managerial ability balanced by strong clinical knowledge and skills.
2. Has the ability to organize, plan and supervise the Nursing Department in coordination with other resident services.
3. Demonstrates leadership and management ability to lead the Nursing Department in a cost effective, professional manner
4. Maintains effective interpersonal relationships and works well with the general public.
5. Is capable of implementing changes as mandated by Federal, State and management recommendations.
6. Is of good emotional, mental and physical health, having sound judgement and high profession standards.
7. Has a desire to work with the geriatric clientele as well as residents of any age and their current prospective needs.
8. Must be willing to be in the facility working with the staff of each shift at varying times.
9. Must be willing to participate in the on call schedule.
10. Must demonstrate ability to follow recommendations as designated by the Director of Nursing
11. Must demonstrate the ability to function as a cooperative team member with all disciplines
12. Is willing and capable of providing emergency care as needed for any resident in the facility.
Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently registered with the state agency for nursing licensure and hold a valid Nurse’s License in the state Treatment Nurse is employed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
