Job Description
The Clinical Mentor will be responsible for coordinating orientation, training, and competency validation of unit staff, providing ongoing leadership, support, and guidance to all nursing staff. This role requires a positive image and attitude towards staff, patients, and visitors, as well as the ability to utilize the nursing process to promote and restore patient health status.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with instructors from affiliating agencies to ensure continuity of patient care and positive learning experiences for students
- Monitor performance of new staff and provide feedback to orientee and appropriate manager
- Assist the Nurse Manager with onboarding of new hires and facilitate the orientation process
- Identify unit-specific educational and competency needs of staff and plan and coordinate teaching methods and content to achieve desired outcomes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in areas of specialty within the past 5 years
- Current RN license to practice in the State of South Carolina; National nursing certification in specialty at time of hire/promotion or must be obtained within 6 months of hire/promotion into role
