The Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership and development of the basketball program, including coaching, player development, and team management, while also promoting sportsmanship and discipline.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Coaching and Player Development:
- Coaching: Instruct and demonstrate basketball skills, techniques, and strategies to student-athletes.
- Player Development: Assess individual and team strengths and weaknesses, develop practice plans, and implement strategies to improve skills and performance.
- Team Management: Organize and lead team practices, games, and competitions.
- Supervision: Provide supervision and guidance to student-athletes during practices, games, and other team activities.
- Discipline: Enforce discipline policies and emphasize sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles.
Program Management:
- Planning: Plan, organize, and advertise tryouts for the basketball program.
- Scheduling: Work with the athletic director to schedule practices, games, and competitions.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with players, parents, and the athletic department regarding team schedules, practices, and games.
- Recruitment: Assist student-athletes with college recruitment.
- Equipment: Maintain and secure all basketball equipment and uniforms.
