JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for answering all incoming telephone calls and processing patients at check-in and check-out in a courteous, efficient, and professional manner. Job requires highly developed inter-personal and telephone communication skills. Knowledge of state and federal guideline regulations and procedures regarding medical records. Requires a high level of interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Receive arriving patients in a courteous manner. Obtain appropriate documentation and insurance information from patients.
· Interview all exiting patients regarding charges, insurance copayments, and balance due accounts.
· Collect copayments from outstanding balances.
· Refer patients to Financial Counselor regarding past due balances and for insurance questions and/or resolutions.
· Answer all incoming telephone lines and route calls to appropriate staff members. Forward calls to and retrieve messages from answering service.
· Print surgery schedules and prepare for next day’s schedule; print out surgery schedules for the next day and email the schedules for the following day to the medical staff.
· Inform patients of privacy policies and procedures.
· Schedule appointments, attach referral requests, and process any additional money due.
· Confirm patient’s upcoming appointments.
· Balance deposit batches each day.
· Receive deliveries and notify appropriate personnel.
· Maintain interpersonal communication with co-workers, physicians and their staff, and patients in a courteous and helpful manner.
· Direct correspondence to physicians’ offices.
· Utilize Microsoft Office computer software programs, including Word and Excel. Utilize eCW EMR.
· Other duties assigned.
