What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Compliance Specialist position at Lexitas Legal Talent Outsourcing?
Our client, a financial services organization located in Midtown Manhattan, seeks a benefits compliance specialist. This is a temporary assignment expected to last for three months.
Candidates performing well in the role may be considered for extension or conversion to permanent employee. The role is full time, M-F. Work location is on-site in midtown on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and remote on Monday and Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Being responsible for the day-to-day compliance function of the client's health and disability businesses, including : reviewing vendor and client documents; participating in RFPs and the vendor selection process; conducting risk-based audits and assessments of business units and third-party vendors.
- Coordinates the first-level pension appeals process, including : conducting research on the underlying facts; researching the applicable plan rules; proposing a resolution to the SVP, Business Compliance; drafting the acknowledgement and decision letters; and obtaining sign-off from the Legal and Client Services units.
- Coordinates the quarterly Benefit Plans Committee meetings, including : setting meeting agendas in consultation with the client’s outside fiduciary consultant, the SVP, Deputy General Counsel, and the SVP, Business Compliance; gathering and circulating meeting materials to the members of the Benefit Plans Committee; and drafting and finalizing the meeting minutes.
- Serves as the HIPAA Contact Person and supports the development and implementation of the HIPAA policies and procedures, including training, across the enterprise.
Hourly rate : $40-50 / hour.
