Senior Design Release Engineer
Location : Troy, MI
Brief Summary of Role :
As a Senior Design Release Engineer, you will lead the development and engineering analysis of high-voltage battery packs, modules, and components for electric vehicles throughout the entire product development and production lifecycle. You will serve as the primary liaison with external customers and internal cross-functional global program teams, ensuring the design and performance of our products meet the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the design release and verification of components, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the LGES HQ development team to execute product development and launch to mass production at LGES manufacturing sites in NA region.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field from an accredited university. Master’s degree preferred.
10 years of experience in automotive product design development, including entire product development lifecycle. 2 years’ experience with high-voltage battery systems, electric vehicles, or similar technologies.
In depth understanding of APQP and PPAP processes, with ability to execute engineering responsibilities within product development lifecycle and product launch.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design and engineering challenges.
Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with global project team, and technical experts.
Demonstrates understanding of engineering principles and practices, utilizing engineering design analysis tools for data driven decisions of product performance.
Proficiency in engineering design software including CAD (CATIA, etc), simple CAE / CFD, PLM, design data management (Windchill, PLM)
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and / or work as part of a team for the design and development of high voltage battery packs, modules and components for electric vehicles, from concept to production launch. Collaborate with engineering team for the integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS), electro-mechanical and mechanical sub-systems and components.
Provides technical and industry expertise and guidance to engineering and cross functional teams.
Serves as a mentor and fosters internal growth as it relates to engineering capabilities within the organization
Establish and maintain customer communication for all aspects of the product design and release.
Communicate clearly to all stakeholders, including the customer, project team, and HQ / US leadership, for the engineering development status and escalations.
Work closely with suppliers to develop and qualify components, ensuring they meet technical specifications and performance requirements.
Develop new or modify 3D and 2D data for design release of components, sub-assemblies, and top level assemblies.
Execute change management process for implementation changes with complete design engineering evaluations.
Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot product issues during development and production phases.
Interpret product requirements and specifications for planning and execution of product with validation engineers. Evaluate physical test results and data for engineering judgement of product performance.
Hands-on support for prototype and launch build events with manufacturing and production related departments at LGES and customer manufacturing sites.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to cross-functional teams and external stake hurdlers.
Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines and drive results.
Strong attention to details and commitment to delivering high-quality designs that meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Education
Required : Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
Preferred : Master’s Degree (M.S) in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or industrial engineering.
