Position Overview
As part of a cross functional team, the Sr. Mechanical Engineer is the subject matter expert for the development of battery systems and other related mechanical designs through analysis, design, and hands-on testing. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer also mentors and advises less experienced mechanical engineering staff in all aspects of the design and development of products.
Primary responsibilities
- Creates design concepts for industrialization of battery systems.
- Designs sheet metal enclosures for battery energy storage and consumer industry applications.
- Provides technical leadership for design and manufacturing related matters.
- Subject matter expert in Mechanical design principals and analysis.
- Assesses design risk / reward and provides contingency plans based on key deliverables and timing.
- Has total ownership of the Mechanical design and associated program deliverables including DFMEA, DFM, packaging, logistics, and supplier interface.
- Design and release drawings to meet internal and external commitments.
- Reviews product validation and verification plans at all product levels and ensure customer and internal requirements are met.
- Provides regular updates to team members and management of project progress and roadblocks.
- Conducts cost / benefit trade-off analysis and feasibility studies.
- Establishes design guidelines and drives related processes to ensure designs are consistent and meets LGES Vertech deliverables.
