Position Overview
The Paralegal or Legal Assistant will assist our General Counsel in a range of legal tasks including drafting real estate purchase contracts, commercial leases, various real estate agreements. They will perform review and analysis of edits to AIA construction contracts and subcontracts. They will manage deal flow and deadlines, perform research, fact checking, and help with litigation management. The Paralegal will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under high pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.
Functions of Position
- Meet daily with General Counsel and development team to discuss deals and projects.
- Assist in the drafting of legal documents including real estate purchase contracts, leases, and various commercial real estate agreements.
- Review and analysis of edits to AIA construction contracts and subcontracts.
- Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for the General Counsel including composing and preparing correspondence that is often confidential; arranging complex and detailed agendas; and providing reminders as needed.
- Works closely and effectively with the General Counsel to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately.
- Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting letters, and other tasks that facilitate the General Counsel's ability to effectively get the job done.
- Conserves General Counsel's time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; drafting letters and documents; collecting and analyzing information.
- Maintains executive's confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Required Attributes

- Legal work experience in a law office or commercial real estate developer's office
- Experience in the editing and drafting of contracts
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Bachelors degree; additional qualification as a paralegal or legal assistant highly preferred
Reporting
Reports directly to the General Counsel.
Evaluation
Annual review by General Counsel to include peer input. Review will be based on interactions and engagement with the TEAM, evidence of how you demonstrate company values, ability to manage workload and competency in the execution of your duties. A positive attitude, interactions with clients, and team spirit will have a lot to do with the overall review.
