Accounting Manager – Construction Industry

We are a well-established construction company in North Austin, known for delivering high-quality projects and fostering a strong team-oriented culture. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our finance team and play a key role in our financial operations.
Position Overview :
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on account reconciliations, Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, and Percentage-of-Completion (POC) reporting . This role requires someone with deep expertise in construction accounting and the ability to manage financial reporting, job costing, and month-end close processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Reconciliations : Perform and oversee complex account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Work-in-Progress (WIP) Accounting : Maintain WIP schedules, analyze job costs, and ensure proper revenue recognition under the Percentage-of-Completion (POC) method .
Financial Reporting : Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Job Costing & Project Accounting : Work closely with project managers to track costs, budgets, and profitability of construction projects.
Month-End Close : Lead the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reconciliations.
Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
Compliance & Audit : Ensure adherence to internal controls, support external audits, and maintain financial compliance.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
3 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
Strong reconciliation experience with general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and job costs.
Expertise in WIP and Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting .
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards .
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communicator and collaborator with cross-functional teams.
