Job Title : Remote Medical Coder (HIM Hospital Coder I)
Location : Remote (Must reside on a Hawaiian Island)
Job Type : Contract (6 months, potential for extension / conversion)
Hours : Standard Business Hours, Monday – Friday (40 hours / week)
About the Role :
We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coding hospital inpatient and outpatient records while ensuring compliance with ICD-10, CMS, OSHPD, and Kaiser organizational coding guidelines . This position is fully remote but requires residency on a Hawaiian Island.
What You’ll Do :
Accurately code and abstract hospital records following industry standards (ICD-10, CPT).
Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure proper coding and sequencing of diagnoses / procedures.
Communicate effectively with physicians to clarify documentation and coding-related inquiries.
Meet established productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
Maintain compliance with AHIMA coding code of ethics and continuing education requirements (minimum of 10 CE units annually).
What We’re Looking For :
Certification : Certified Coding Associate (CCA) with eligibility for CCS, RHIT, or RHIA.
Experience : Minimum 2 years of recent hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient).
Technical Skills : Experience using EPIC and strong PC proficiency.
Knowledge : Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes .
Attention to Detail : Ability to analyze health records and ensure coding accuracy.
Communication : Comfortable interacting with physicians for documentation clarification.
Additional Requirements :
Must pass organizations coding test with a minimum score of 75%.
Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift / push / pull up to 20 lbs.
