Summary
The Infrastructure Engineer II participates in the development of enterprise technology, solutions, systems, storage, network, and telecommunications engineering designs. This role is crucial for consolidating and standardizing infrastructure throughout our client and its affiliates. Responsibilities include interpreting architecture requirements, design, product evaluations, selection, configuration, installation, testing, and integration of new technology to support the organization. The role involves significant interaction with human-interface computing devices and their integration with clinical and technical workflows and infrastructure.
Job Accountabilities
Technology Support and Solutions
Specialize in one or more areas such as technical solutions, systems, networks, or storage.
Package software for deployment via automated software distribution.
Perform specification, design, engineering, configuration, testing, and implementation of server systems hardware, operating systems, related subsystems, and application components running on multiple platforms.
Install, document, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices including routers, switches, wide area networks, local area networks, virtual area networks, converged internet protocol networks, firewalls, and virtual private networks (VPNs).
Allocate storage to operating systems, configure, implement, and maintain storage hardware and sites.
Manage device inventory and remediation efforts for new project deployments.
Handle escalations of operational problems with the technologies currently in production.
Communicate with support teams to understand current challenges and implement solutions.
Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and expand client relationships to enhance the user experience.
Customer Service
Perform ongoing solution reviews, lifecycle management, and roadmap development.
Stay current on new technologies via research, seminars, workshops, and vendor information.
Identify new opportunities by understanding the requirements from customers : patients, users, and support teams.
Documentation
Maintain documentation of all changes to the production environment via the change management system.
Document and update application diagrams in Visio drawings that are added to the support database.
Review documents for accuracy.
Infrastructure Architecture
Interpret architecture requirements, design, product evaluations, selection, and integration of new technology to support the needs of the client and its regional affiliates.
Perform in-depth technical evaluations including requirements analysis and documentation, request for proposal (RFP) development, evaluation criteria development, writing test plans, product testing, and post-evaluation reporting on products and solutions.
Serve as the point of contact for Information Services (IS) for the deployment and adoption of enterprise engineering standards necessary to achieve system-wide IS objectives, cost, and revenue targets.
Engineering Standards
Contribute to the development of enterprise engineering standards and participate in committees focused on technology standards.
Integrate new technologies into the existing infrastructure.
Develop and implement solutions that meet business security requirements.
Education
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Associate's degree in Information Systems Technical field or equivalent education / experience.
Typical Experience
1 year of recent relevant experience with similar projects / duties required.
Skills and Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of storage performance, data replication, storage area network (SAN) based backup, load balancing, storage virtualization methods, and SAN zoning and provisioning.
Ability to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to identify relevant concerns and factors.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, IS team members, management, and executive personnel / staff.
Verbal and writing skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups such as executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
Use basic English words and phrases to effectively and clearly organize and communicate thoughts and ideas.
Organize workflow to accomplish established objectives.
Prioritize assignments to complete work in a timely manner.
Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Work as part of a team or collaborate with colleagues from different departments to achieve a common goal or to gain a better understanding of client needs.

Network Specialty
Network infrastructure including converged internet protocol (IP) networks, wireless local area network (WLAN), wide area network (WAN) / metropolitan area network (MAN), local area network (LAN), virtual private network (VPN) / Firewall.
Transmission control protocol (TCP) / IP and open systems interconnection (OSI) model.
Routing protocols such as enhanced interior gateway routing protocol (EiGRP), open shortest path first (OSPF), border gateway protocol (BGP).
Frame relay / asynchronous transfer mode (FR / ATM), point-to-point protocol (PPP), high-level data link control (HDLC), multi-link point-to-point protocol (MLPPP), and virtual local area network (VLAN).
Digital signal and transmission line (DS3 / T3), DS1 / T1, fast Ethernet (FAST E), gigabit Ethernet (Gig E), 10 gigabit Ethernet (10 Gig E).
Systems Specialty
Wide range of server platforms including server operating systems (e.g., Windows, OS400, AIX, Linux, VMS), Citrix, technologies for high availability (e.g., high availability cluster multiprocessing (HACMP), MS Clustering, content switching), virtualization (e.g., logical partitioning, VMWare), provisioning, monitoring and inventory tool sets (e.g., Tivoli, MS Systems Center, Opsware, BMC), directory services (such as MS Active Directory) and messaging / collaboration, and TCP / IP-based services, including domain name system (DNS), dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP), hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), file transfer protocol (FTP), secure shell (SSH), simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP), print services, and other infrastructure components.

Compensation : $50-60 / hr
