What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Paralegal position at LHH Recruitment Solutions?
LHH is working with a busy, law firm in San Diego California, as they search for an experienced litigation paralegal to join their growing team in Downtown San Diego. This is an opportunity to join a collaborative team in a paralegal role with a low billable hour requirement and a hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days from home) schedule.
Sample of duties:
- Prepare indexes and chronologies of events for produced documents (Plaintiff, Defendant, Third-Party).
- Maintain and manage privilege logs.
- Compile documents for depositions and summarize deposition transcripts for attorney use.
- Review and collect relevant documents for motions and other court submissions.
- Organize exhibits for pleadings and court submissions.
- Conduct research on public records, witnesses, adversaries, arbitrators, and mediators.
- Coordinate and electronically file all pleadings with the court, adhering to relevant court rules.
- Assist in drafting discovery documents, including interrogatories, document requests, requests for admissions, and subpoenas.
- Organize and coordinate document productions (Bates stamping, redaction, etc.).
- Aid in drafting answers to complaints.
- Manage filings and updates in electronic document systems and client portals.
- Help draft letters to clients and settlement agreements.
- Prepare mediation submissions.
- Organize and track documents received from clients and the court.
- Conduct legal research using online resources (e.g., Westlaw).
- Format legal documents as needed.
- Perform E-Discovery searches and uploads.
- Create and format tables of contents and authorities.
- Proofread and edit documents for grammar, content, and redactions.
- Provide high-level trial preparation and support, including organizing and indexing trial exhibits and related documents.
- Offer litigation secretarial support as needed.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Skills Required:
- 3 to 5 years of paralegal experience.
- Strong understanding of law firm procedures and court requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant court rules.
- Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
- Highly organized with strong research skills (including Westlaw and internet resources).
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Compensation:
Salary of $70,000-$80,000 annually, Health, dental and vision benefits,
Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
