Staff Accountant II
LHH is partnering with a company in Houston, TX, to find a skilled mid-level accountant to join their corporate accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of midstream accounting experience and a strong ability to identify and analyze accounting and financial reporting questions. This role involves assisting with the preparation and recording of corporate accounting processes, preparing schedules and journal entries, monitoring accruals, and supporting audits of annual financial statements. The candidate will also work closely with corporate support teams to ensure all appropriate expenses are captured in accordance with GAAP and perform special projects requiring knowledge of pipeline and storage, gas gathering, and processing operational accounting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding administrative and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required, with a strong working knowledge of SAP preferred.
Compensation: Starting at $75,000

Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation and recording of all aspects of corporate accounting processes.
- Prepare schedules, journal entries, and analysis for various aspects of the corporate accounting team, including amortization schedules for prepaids, tax, and insurance.
- Monitor accruals and organize meetings related to ARO, insurance, tax, and regulatory teams.
- Prepare work papers to support financial statements.
- Assist with audits of annual financial statements.
- Research and prepare journal entries related to corporate amortization schedules.
- Support the corporate accounting team with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting tasks as needed.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Monitor and complete AFEs in a timely manner to ensure all assets are created.
- Perform GL reconciliations and uploads to new accounting software.
- Work closely with corporate support teams to ensure all appropriate expenses are captured in accordance with GAAP.
- Secure payment from third parties/affiliates and notify Treasury on expected payment and timing.
- Perform special projects requiring knowledge of pipeline and storage, gas gathering, and processing operational accounting.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect corporate assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience.

- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
