LHH is seeking an Accounting Manager for a leading organization in the utilities industry, located in Austin, TX. This hybrid position (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) is a great opportunity to lead a high-performing accounting team while overseeing areas such as fixed asset accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and audit preparation.
The ideal candidate will have at least seven years of accounting experience and a strong background in fixed asset and project accounting. In addition to having a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, or a related field, the ideal individual will have prior experience leading teams, possess a CPA license, and demonstrate technical accounting expertise including GAAP and utility accounting standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop a team focused on fixed asset and project accounting functions.
- Provide strategic support for regulatory reporting, including the preparation of detailed financial reports and compliance documentation.
- Manage internal controls and ensure compliance with GASB requirements and internal policies.
- Oversee preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, complex schedules, and intercompany transactions.
- Coordinate with auditors and lead audit-related activities to ensure timely and accurate responses.
- Analyze financial fluctuations and offer insights and conclusions to leadership.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and senior finance stakeholders to support broader organizational goals.
- Assess financial impact of contracts involving leases, asset transactions, and subscriptions.
- Contribute to department planning and budgeting while promoting team engagement and professional development.
- Support process enhancements and promote best practices in accounting operations.
- Utilize ERP systems such as PeopleSoft for financial reporting and data management.
Client Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, business, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of hands-on accounting experience is essential.
- At least 2 years of experience supervising or managing accounting teams is preferred.
- CPA designation is strongly preferred.
