Job Title: Benefits Manager
Location: Yuba City, CA (Hybrid: Onsite Tue–Thu, Remote Mon/Fri, Every Other Friday Off)
Salary: $110,000 – $120,000
About the Opportunity:
An established, employee-focused organization is seeking a Benefits Manager with self-funded/self-insured health benefits experience to lead and manage benefits for approximately employees. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the administration and strategic planning of self-funded employee benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, etc.)
- Act as primary liaison between the company, third-party vendors, brokers, and internal departments
- Provide benefit guidance and education to employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and policies
- Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure proper benefit deductions and data accuracy
- Lead annual open enrollment processes and recommend plan improvements
- Maintain benefits data within HRIS/payroll systems (UKG preferred)
- Supervise and mentor the Benefits Administrator
- Analyze utilization and cost data to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of offerings
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Benefits Manager or similar role, serving 400 employees
- Union experience a plus
- Strong experience with self-funded/self-insured health plans
- In-depth understanding of relevant compliance requirements (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Business Administration
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with payroll systems (UKG preferred)
- Collaborative mindset with strong communication and leadership skills
Schedule & Work Style:
- Hybrid Work Environment:
- Onsite: Tuesday–Thursday (7:30 AM–5:00 PM)
- Remote: Monday & Friday
- Every other Friday off!
