What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Design Engineer position at LHH?
LHH Recruitment Solutions an opening for an Electrical Designer/Estimator for our client in the Wallingford, CT area. This direct hire role allows you to expand your engineering career within a fast-paced engineering and architectural firm in the commercial construction industry! This on-site position requires a minimum of 7-years current experience in electrical design role and prefers candidate that have a strong background estimation as well. Multi-project management experience highly preferred.
Candidates MUST have a proven track record of CURRENT successful electrical design for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
Salary range: $85-100k annually.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for designing and reviewing project documents, plans and specifications
- Create RFI’s for communication with engineers in order to clarify project documents as well as vendors.
- Aid in creation and implementation of electrical budgets and/or estimates for private and public project bids
- Develop electrical submittal packages for review and approval.
- Manage inventory of equipment and materials for projects.
- Keep track of and manage electrical inventory stock for factory production projects.
- Monitor, report and assist in production in shop to confirm work is per design.
- Highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet
- Ability to handle firm deadlines.
- Proactively identify changes in project scope and requirements and take appropriate action for adjustments.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to project schedule and deliverables.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum seven (7) years in the design of electrical systems in a construction and/or industrial setting.
- Required – designing and building electrical power systems, load calculations, fault current, and mechanical system coordination.
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD is REQUIRED.
- High voltage design experience highly preferred.
- Some experience with pump stations and controls highly preferred.
- Experience in project estimation is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to produce electrical schedules (Panels, Conduits, etc.), one-line, schematic diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Proven experience in creating a layout of electrical systems complete with instrumentation and controls (HVAC controls, etc.)
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Quick Books
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable reading and understanding construction drawings
- Previous project management experience in construction.
Salary : $85,000 - $100,000
