What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grant Accountant position at LHH?
LHH is partnering with one of our best clients on this Grant Accountant position located in Brooklyn, NY. The right candidate will have experience with NYC/NYS grant funding agencies and a solid accounting background. This position is temporary to start and offers a flexible hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Management: Oversee the financial management of grants, including budgeting, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to grantors, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Budgeting: Develop and monitor grant budgets, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits and aligned with grant objectives.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of audit reports and support auditors during fieldwork.
- Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations of grant-related accounts and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly; posting journal entries as required
- Billing: Generate and submit invoices for grant reimbursements and ensure timely collection of funds.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and private grant regulations and reporting requirements.
- Collaboration: Work closely with program managers, finance team members, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient grant management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Proven experience in a grant accounting role
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation: $35 - $40/hr, depending on experience.
