Job Summary
The Master Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, refiners, digesters, dryers, winding machines, slitters, and packaging equipment. The Master Mechanic works closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to minimize downtime, improve system performance, and support continuous plant operations.

- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM)
- Safety, Compliance & Documentation
Required Skills & Competencies
- Hands-on experience with mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in a industrial setting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints, P&ID diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, bearings, steam systems, pumps, and rotating machinery.
- Experience with precision alignment techniques (laser alignment, dial indicators, etc.).
- Ability to weld, cut, and fabricate metal parts for equipment modifications.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Technical or Trade School certification preferred.
- 7 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and repair in a industrial setting.
- Experience working with high-speed rotating equipment
- Previous experience working in a unionized environment is a plus.
- Journeyman or Master Mechanic certification is preferred.
