Job Title: Medical Authorization Specialist - OB/GYN
Job Description: A busy OB/GYN department is looking for a meticulous and experienced Medical Authorization Specialist to join their team. This role involves reviewing and entering data for authorizing payer requirements. The ideal candidate will keep management informed of billing issues and perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
Reviews: Review patient medical history and insurance coverage
Requests: Initiate authorization requests and handle phone and paper requests
Communicates: Contact referring physicians and communicate with patients
Monitors: Monitor schedules for potential issues and perform follow-ups
Manages: Manage denials and improve revenue cycle management
Documents: Complete billing documentation and maintain logs, records, and reports
Assists: Input and update patient information, and assist with other clerical tasks
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
1-5 years of experience in a medical authorizations office is essential.
Proficiency in PC usage and accurate data entry skills.
Knowledge of GE/IDX, payers in specialty, FSCs, and pay codes used in the GE/IDX system.
Pay Details: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
