The Oil & Gas Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to attorneys handling complex oil and gas litigation, transactions, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and have substantial experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on legal research, document management, eDiscovery, and trial preparation and attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing, reviewing, and filing documents related to oil and gas litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements.
- Prepare and maintain case files, organize exhibits, and assist with trial preparation.
- Manage eDiscovery processes, including collecting, reviewing, and producing documents, conducting document review, and utilizing eDiscovery tools.
- Assist in managing the discovery process, including Bates stamping, document review, and indexing, ensuring timely production of documents.
- Prepare and attend trials, hearings, and depositions, including organizing and presenting trial exhibits, managing witness testimony, and assisting with overall trial logistics.
- Perform legal research, regulations, and case precedents.
- Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and summaries.
- Coordinate filings with state and federal courts, including e-filing and managing deadlines.
- Track and manage deadlines, appointments, and client communications.
- Communicate effectively with clients, experts, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal, specifically in oil and gas law or related practice areas.
- Experience with eDiscovery processes and tools, including document collection, review, and production.
- In-depth knowledge of oil and gas industry regulations and practices.
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures, including trial preparation and attendance.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, eDiscovery platforms, and legal management software (i.e., Clio, iManage, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
