LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager for our client in San Francisco, CA. This full-time direct hire position offers a hybrid work environment with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
The Payroll Manager will supervise a team of three while also helping process payroll for all employees, ensure compliance with best practices, maintain accurate records, and assist with audits. This role requires at least 10 years of payroll experience and strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate and timely payroll runs.
- Calculate and review wages, bonuses, overtime, and deductions, including state-specific tax considerations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Lead and mentor a team of three payroll professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate team workflows and manage task delegation to meet payroll deadlines and address any issues.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment within the payroll team.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and regulatory changes in all states where the company operates.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with payroll policies and regulations.
- Oversee the payroll system, ensuring data accuracy and system efficiency.
- Implement and monitor payroll processes and procedures to streamline operations and enhance accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience handling multi-state payroll, with a deep understanding of varying state regulations and tax laws.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax laws, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Certification in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)) is preferred.

Salary: $150,000 - $190,000
