Position Overview:

The Data Business Analyst will be responsible for analyzing business data, identifying trends and insights, and helping to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders across the Larry H. Miller platform. This role will focus primarily on data analysis, reporting, and visualization while incorporating some data engineering responsibilities such as assisting with data modeling, ETL requirements, and ensuring data quality. The Data Business Analyst will play a key role in transforming business requirements into data-driven solutions, contributing to the overall success of our organization by providing actionable insights and ensuring data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze complex business data to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Generate detailed reports and dashboards to help stakeholders make informed business decisions.
  • Business Requirements Gathering: Work closely with business stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements. Translate these requirements into clear data specifications for technical teams.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve business processes through the application of data analysis and automation tools. Recommend strategies to optimize data use and reporting efficiency.
  • Data Visualization: Create clear and compelling data visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs, dashboards) that present insights in an easily understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data across various platforms. Conduct regular data audits to identify and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Data Engineering Collaboration: Assist in defining data requirements for ETL processes, work with data engineers to improve data pipelines, and support basic data modeling (star/snowflake schema) for reporting.
  • Database Querying & SQL Development: Write efficient SQL queries to extract and analyze data from relational databases, supporting analytical needs and performance tuning.
  • Continuous Learning & Industry Best Practices: Stay updated on the latest data analysis techniques, visualization trends, and analytics best practices in the healthcare and business intelligence space.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (2 years) as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role with a focus on data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools).
  • Solid understanding of business operations, KPIs, and the ability to translate business needs into data requirements. Post acute health care industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with data modeling (star/snowflake schema) and basic understanding of relational databases.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to translate data insights into business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience working with data warehouses, databases, and data management systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ETL concepts and the ability to collaborate with data engineers to optimize data pipelines (hands-on ETL development experience is not required but a plus).
  • Proficient in ETL tools (e.g., Matillion, Talend, Informatica, Data Factory, or other related ETL Tools)
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of data governance, data validation, and data integrity best practices.
