POSITION SUMMARY: Employee will primarily assist at the Rail Facility to load rail cars, unload rail cars and transport lime from Plant to Rail if needed (CDL required). Provides support to all personnel at the rail facility. Makes decisions within the process based on the situation, knowing what to do or who to call so the problem can be fixed.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Rail Yard Operation
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the rail area to meet safety, tonnage, quality and environmental demands.
Ensures shipping schedules are maintained to satisfy customer requirements along with unloading and inventory management of solid fuel.
Responsible for reinforcement of all company, plant, department policies and expectations.
Responsible for Rail operation after hours and on weekends as needed.
Heavy Equipment Operation
Safe operation of mobile equipment.
Abide by all company policies and procedures.
Abide by all State and Federal laws.
Preventive Maintenance on Equipment
Perform pre-shift inspection on equipment prior to operation.
Fuel equipment as needed and properly log all fuel required.
Report or fix all items found during pre-shift inspection.
Perform preventive maintenance on truck when needed, with preventive maintenance being:
Change oil and check fluids
Lubricate
Change filters
Tire maintenance
Safety
Attend scheduled safety meetings
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete Pre-shift inspections on any assigned Heavy Equipment and submit to Quarry Manager
Promote safety among co-workers
Follow all safety policies and procedures
ATTRIBUTES:
Self-motivated and must be able to work independently.
Industrial background with demonstrated success with trouble shooting production problems.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of over the road heavy equipment operation and safety requirements.
Must be capable of working shift work, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed including nights.
Demonstrated skills heavy equipment operation a plus, but minimum as demonstrated for an over the road haul truck.
History of safe operation of vehicle as demonstrated on driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Must be capable of working shift work, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed including nights.
Ability to occasionally lift/carry 45 pounds.
Demonstrated skills heavy equipment operation a plus, but minimum as demonstrated for an over the road haul truck
History of safe operation of vehicle as demonstrated on driving record
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent & CDL.
PREFFERED EDUCATION: Associate degree in industrial, Distribution, or Engineering Systems or equivalent practical experience preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a production/distribution/industrial environment.
PREFFERED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a production/distribution/industrial environment with a supervisory background.
