What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrification Controls Engineer (Model-Based Controls) position at LHP Engineering Solutions?
LHP Engineering Solutions is the global functional safety leader committed to guiding clients in their development of safe, software-defined vehicles through Functional Safety consulting, solutions, training, and testing which includes - Analytics, ADAS, AUTOSAR, Embedded Cybersecurity, ISO 26262, and SOTIF.
We are seeking a talented and driven Electrification Controls Engineer with expertise in model-based control design and simulation using MATLAB / Simulink and the Simscape toolbox. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of advanced control algorithms for electrified powertrains, energy storage systems, and other vehicle electrification applications, using their background in electrical / electronics, mechatronics, and mechanical engineering. This role involves designing, implementing, and validating control systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency in electrified systems.
Work can be performed remotely from US or Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
- Model-Based Control Development : Develop and optimize control algorithms for electrified systems (e.g., electric motors, batteries, power electronics) using MATLAB / Simulink and Simscape. Create plant models for mechanical, electrical, and thermal systems to enable system-level simulations and validations.
- System Design & Analysis : Conduct system dynamics analysis and implement control strategies to improve efficiency, performance, and safety. Integrate mechatronic and mechanical system models into multi-domain simulations to predict real-world behavior.
- Control System Validation : Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) testing for control algorithm validation. Calibrate and validate control algorithms against physical hardware and mechanical systems.
- Mechatronic System Integration : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical subsystems. Optimize mechanical and mechatronic designs for compatibility with control system requirements.
- Documentation : Maintain detailed documentation of models, algorithms, and validation results. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for vehicle electrification.
