Job Summary:
The Director HR Operations will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization’s mission and talent strategy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversight and management of direct reports in HR areas of Employee Relations, Total Compensation & Benefits, HR Compliance, HRIS, Absence Management, Engagement & Performance Management. (Note, Talent Acquisition/Recruitment reports to a separate peer Director).
• Collaborates with VPHR and senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to Human Resources.
• Leads and facilitates the employee relations program and related functions with team of HR Generalists. Communicates with employees regarding employee relations concerns; provides guidance and recommendations for resolution of issues.
• Partner with organization leadership to periodically re-map annually all existing talent using 9-box tool, along with coordinated high-performer and low performer performance plans improvements/growth.
• Partners with Sr. Director of Learning and Workforce Development on learning strategy, both employee development as well as Leadership Academy, including cooperation between L&D and performance management.
• Partner with Education and Operational leadership for applicable career pathing and career ladder programs.
• Develop, initiate, and maintain effective programs for engagement, recognition, and retention.
• Build and coordinate annual employee engagement survey and corresponding action plan continuous improvement initiatives. In partnership with operational leadership for each area, measure effectiveness of action plans and continuous improvement.
• Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
• Assists managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
• Research, design and propose DEIB strategy pulling in existing diversity friendly activities in place and organizing/expanding into full defined strategy.
• Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
• Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
• Partners with VPHR to monitor and comply with departmental budget.
• Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
• Performs other duties as required.
