Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer

OVERVIEW Libbey is hiring a dynamic experienced Mechanical Engineer / Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be primarily responsible for the mechanical design of all batch and furnace systems. Typical assignments include working with mechanical and combustion systems to support the batch and furnace departments, support production with the operations of the annealing lehrs in our global manufacturing facilities. This individual must be a team player that can collaborate with others while managing multiple projects. They must have strong problem-solving skills and exhibit excellent communication skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Steel work design for our glass melting furnaces Support of furnace rebuilds Support the factories with the design and operation of the lehrs Produce engineering documentation including solid models, details, assembly drawings, and reports. Brainstorming, concepting, engineering analysis & calculations, CAD design, and prototype testing. Specification and integration of commercial parts. Provide troubleshooting support for manufacturing facilities. Support procurement process. Support installation & commissioning of equipment in global manufacturing facilities. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent area of study Required years of experience: 2-5 years for Mechanical Engineer 5-10 years for Senior Mechanical Engineer Strong CAD skills: AutoCad and SolidWorks experience preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude, hands on experience appreciated. Preference given to candidates who have demonstrated depth in one or more of the following areas: Batch & furnace installations Glass Melting process, combustion systems Annealing Lehrs Steel construction designs Modern manufacturing methods and machining processes Ability to work in a manufacturing environment exposed to heat, noise, and heights while utilizing PPE. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) Domestic and international travel required.
