Libbey is looking for reliable and mechanically inclined Operator Apprentices to join our Toledo Plant team. The apprenticeship program offers healthcare benefits, paid time off, eligibility for overtime, and an opportunity for monetary bonuses upon completion of apprenticeship.
Under the direction of an Operator and/or Trainer, the Operator Apprentice is responsible for the efficient operation of a glass forming machine and related equipment, maintaining continuous production of quality ware.

Under the direction of an Operator and/or Trainer, the Operator Apprentice is responsible for the efficient operation of a glass forming machine and related equipment, maintaining continuous production of quality ware.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Makes all necessary settings, adjustments, and minor repairs to ensure proper operation of glass forming machines and all related machinery or equipment.
- Checks production for visual and dimensional specifications and makes adjustments and corrections to keep production within specifications, including monitoring and making the required adjustment to maintain HMI/SPC screens within the established ranges.
- Assists Machine Repairman on job changes.
- Promptly reports bad glass, defective machines, molds, tools, conveyors, etc. to the shift supervisor.
- Maintains proper lubrication of all moving parts of machinery and equipment.
- Checks all safety switches and valves, starting and stopping machine as required.
- Conditions mold equipment for efficient operation.
- Is responsible for control and coordination of cycles of forming machine, loading and unloading devices, and related operating equipment to ensure continuous flow of production.
- Operates mechanical, electro-mechanical adjustment devices, and additional quality control instruments as required
- Completes production and operating reports or charts as required including documentation of process issues and/or moves/suggestions in the item brochure. Also makes a verbal report at request of shift supervisor disclosing all known details of accidents to personnel and machinery.
- Maintains good housekeeping and safety in assigned area of responsibility.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must successfully complete a drug screen, background check and physical
- Must pass Bennett Mechanical Comprehension Test
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Must demonstrate safety in the workplace
- Highly organized to accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
- A desire to learn and grow
- Must complete 4000 apprenticeship hours to qualify for an Operator position
