Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in driving, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe bus. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for transporting participants safely and efficiently from their home or designated meeting place, to Libbie's . This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working independently and are passionate about providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide minimal physical assistance and/or verbal cues for participants to assist them in entering and exiting the bus as needed.
2. Assist participants with ambulation, safety and reassurance as needed.
3. Maintain records of hours worked and changes in participant schedules.
4. Inform Executive Director and Office Manager of changes in participant’s
physical or mental status immediately.
5. Provide information regarding participant changes in bus schedule and needs to meet with and review weekly/daily schedule with Office Manager.
6. Operate wheelchair accessible bus with lift in a safe and courteous manner.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Driver’s License in good standing in the state of Texas.
**No current traffic violations or related convictions as revealed in a background
check conducted through the Texas Department of Public Safety.
3. Prefer relevant experience working with the adults age 55 and over.
4. Physical strength and flexibility needed to assist persons in wheelchairs, walkers or
using a cane in entering, being seated and exiting the bus in a safe manner.
5. Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
6. Strong organizational skills. Ability to complete work independently, or with
minimal supervision, in a timely manner.
7. Good communication skills.
8. Positive interpersonal skills, a “people” person. Energetic and enthusiastic.
9. Non-patronizing attitude, sensitivity, caring and respect for the older adult population and their families.
10. Enthusiasm about the adult day service concept and philosophy.
11. Belief in the potential for and value of personal growth and improvement in the elderly population being served.
12. Creativity and flexibility in fulfilling job duties as assigned and the ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team.
13. Certification in CPR/AED.
13. Perform all duties within the capabilities of a competent bus driver as assigned by the Executive Director.
