A leading manufacturing facility in Cherokee, AL, is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to enhance its safety culture and compliance programs. This role provides hands-on, field-based safety leadership, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations while fostering a collaborative, safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead incident investigations using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify corrective actions.
- Manage and improve the site safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry standards.
- Conduct safety audits and recommend improvements to site policies and procedures.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new hire and ongoing site safety training.
- Oversee hazmat and emergency response planning, including drills and equipment readiness.
- Ensure confined space safety, including equipment management and training.
- Maintain and improve safety documentation and compliance processes.
- Act as an advisor to site leadership, identifying and implementing best practices for workplace safety.
- Serve as Assistant Facility Security Personnel, ensuring security compliance as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree 2 years of experience in a safety role, or 10 years of field safety experience.
- Solid on-site safety experience in manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or similar industries.
- Strong background in incident investigations (RCA), safety audits, and emergency response.
- Hands-on approach with excellent interpersonal skills – able to build a positive safety culture without being a "safety cop."
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience plus a degree.
- Safety program management experience.
- Firefighting/volunteer firefighting experience.
- Safety training development and delivery experience.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional), Certified Industrial Hygienist, or DOT certifications.
- Familiarity with ISNetworld and security protocols.
