Job Title: Middle School Activities Coordinator
Reports To: Building Principal
Job Summary: The Middle School Activities Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the building principal and will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating all middle school activities. They will contribute to the creation of a community of continuous learning for all staff and students and foster a culture of high expectations for all students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Appropriate Kansas Certification for Teaching
2. Minimum of three years of experience in the field of education, including successful teaching and/or experience at the secondary level
3. Minimum of three years of experience in a coaching/sponsorship role.
4. Preferred plan of study for a master’s degree in Educational Administration or the equivalent from an accredited college or university.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, school personnel, parents, vendors, peers, and other stakeholders.
2. Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques
3. Effective interpersonal skills in managing and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders.
4. Exce lent time management and organizational skills.
5. Demonstrate the ability to understand and be sensitive to those of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
6. Demonstrate ability to manage conflict through quality decision-making and effective problem-solving.
7. Demonstrate proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Must be able to use District IT systems to perform routine tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Schedule, organize, and effectively communicate a l student activities, facility management, and transportation requests. Attend a l appropriate league meetings and develop and implement appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of activities.
2. Effectively manage a school community through after-school study hall, enrichment, and tutoring programs.
3. Analyze and understand student participation data and effectively use it to form actions within the school.
4. Assist in the orientation of new staff members to the teaching and extracurricular environment at the middle school, especially as it relates to the area of students, personnel policy and procedures, and general building practices.
5. Assist in promoting a positive school climate and staff morale through recognition programs and honoring those who excel.
6. Act in a supportive role with the principal in working with parents, teachers, and the community to promote the effective flow of communications and ensure positive relations with parents, business leaders, and community members.
7. Listen and respond to parent concerns with sensitivity. Conduct parent and student meetings and attend after-school activities.
8. Promote good school-parent relationships when discussing specific student problems with parents.
9. Assist in organizing parent conferences, back-to-school nights, and other times when staff is available to parents to discuss their child’s learning and behavior.
10. Provide oversight of school-wide student management systems and responsive interventions to address individual student behavior incidents specifically related to activities and athletics.
11. Collaborate with the administrative leadership team district-wide, initiate a strong sense of team, and serve on committees as appropriate.
12. Effectively manage conflict within the school building.
13. Evaluate extracurricular employees according to best practices and district policy and procedure.
14. Clearly communicate the district’s vision and mission to the school community and maintain a positive school climate while maintaining staff accountability.
15. Participate in school, district, region, and state meetings as appropriate.
16. Effectively manage the building-level budget in assigned areas of responsibility.
17. Advocate for children and actively embrace community involvement.
18. Maintain appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
19. Demonstrate a commitment to your personal growth and learning.
20. Effectively balance between great flexibility and great organization.
