What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech/Language Paraprofessional position at Liberal USD 480?
Qualifications: 60 college credit hours OR
High School Diploma/GED & passed State paraprofessional test
Supervisor: The paraprofessional will be under the direct supervision of a designated certified staff member and will be responsible to and generally supervised by the building principal.
Term of Employment: At will
Evaluation: A supervising teacher or principal will evaluate the paraprofessional at least one time per school year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Basic Knowledge of Sign language preferred but no required.
- Provide instructional assistance to students.
- Assist in the implementation of lesson plans.
- Work with individual or small groups of students.
- Assist with classroom instruction.
- Keep appropriate and accurate records or observations of student progress and other performance data.
- Provide input as needed and requested by certified staff or administration.
- Maintain specified classroom and individual discipline, health and behavior management at all times.
- Support Remote Services when needed, including setting up equipment, getting students, supervising students, troubleshooting, etc.
- Assist in the supervision of student during playground, lunchroom, library, arrivals, departures, halls, auditoriums, and gymnasiums.
- Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the classroom.
- Utilize instructional equipment needed to implement instructional plans.
- Assist in the implementation of all programs when in the absence of staff as needed.
- Maintain total confidentiality with all student data.
- Demonstrate support and encouragement to students, other paras and certified staff.
- Attend in-services and training (20 hours required annually).
- Turn in monthly in district travel to Director of Special Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend monthly meetings for requied hours from Speech/Language Therapists.
Monthly required hours for SLP's through the state of Kansas provided by a kansas Therapist through KDHE. These trainings may be conducted by the therapist or as assigned through the infinitec or other online program.
