Job Overview
The SAT teacher teaches SAT prep classes. Assists in creating a curriculum and participates in ongoing professional development to continually advance their teaching. Instructors are expected to deliver on the following core responsibilities:
- Raise student SAT scores through excellent instruction
- Deliver high-quality, fun learning experiences with relevance and rigor
- Build authentic connections with students
- Manage tough classrooms with firmness and consistency
- Participate in weekly or semi-monthly coaching sessions with an instructional coach
- Engage in an instructional growth plan with an instructional coach
- Complete routine assignments, including peer observations and critiques
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Preferred skills and work experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Experience with SAT/ACT tests.
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching inner city youth
- Strong belief that all students can succeed
- Ability to engage, motivate, and lead students
- Experience teaching standardized test prep is a plus
- Ability to teach all subjects (English, Reading, Math) is a plus
- Experience helping youth navigate college and scholarship applications is a plus
- Demonstration of persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles to goal achievement -Demonstration of drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to
- Achievement and result-focused
- Excellence in verbal and written skills; excellence in communication
- Demonstration of an advanced understanding of instructional strategies for students with autism, developmental delay, specific learning disabilities, and behavior disorders
- Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction ∙ Strong organizational skills
- Critical thought and problem-solving
- Collaboration; a team player
- Spanish fluency highly desirable
