SUMMARY
Provides automotive repairs related to removal/replacement/repair and preparation of damaged components, and aligns vehicle frame/unibody components to manufacturer specifications, and works within manufacturer and industry established quality and time standards. Complies with manufacturer and dealer safety and environmental programs and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
- Notifies management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed r cause a change in the promised time.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership owned tools and manuals
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to use a computer for reference and training/testing.
EDUCATION
Education, training and/or state/national certifications should clearly demonstrate the possession of the knowledge and skills state above.
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Valid Drivers license that meets dealership insurability requirements
- ICAR or ASE certifications in auto body repair, painting and estimating a plus
- Certificate from Vocational School in Collision a plus
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a collision repair technician
- Tools required to perform repairs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Walking/Standing for 6 to 8 hours in a shift
- Using hand and/or power tools and equipment consistent with industry standards
- Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching and climbing
- Lifting up to 70lbs.
- Possess physical and manual dexterity
