SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Reports to the Electronic Fund Transfer Manager and is responsible for daily processing and timely and accurate handling of financial transactions to include processing ACH debit and credit origination transactions, handling posting of received ACH debits and credits, handling associated exceptions, processing ACH returns, Stop Payments, HELOC payments, Death Notifications, Reclamations and International ACH transactions in accordance with current NACHA(National Automated Clearing House Association) operating rules and guidelines. Ensures the customer experience is consistently aligned with Liberty Bank’s Leadership, Vision, Mission and Core Values. Collaboration with internal business partners, as well as being a strong team player who takes pride in performing well and helping others all while contributing to a positive team environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Sr. ACH Specialist takes responsibility for the daily processing and handling exception items that do not post correctly or need additional attention as outlined in current bank policies or procedures for all ACH related transactions.
Follows department processing policies regarding verification procedures, posting, exception handling and return handling of ACH transactions.
Accurately and efficiently performs daily balancing and reconciling tasks and handles out of balance conditions in a timely manner.
Reviews ACH Stop payment items daily.
Verifies Prenoted accounts for government items.
Processes EFT Error Disputes in accordance with established procedures and Regulation E timeframes.
Primary liaison for other financial institutions regarding ACH processing issues and errors.
Assists other departments and branch staff on ACH research and processing questions by providing prompt and courteous support.
Always maintains customer confidentiality by adhering to privacy regulations.
Follows established Bank policies, procedures, and security measures including BSA and OFAC related policies and procedures.
Adheres to NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) operating rules and regulations.
Performs other related activities within the Deposit Operations Unit an assigned.
SECOND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Set up Internal/External Preauthorized transfers.
Cross trained to cover Wire Transfer Specialist position.
Assists with preparation of requested items for internal and external auditors.
Assists with testing of required system upgrades.
Assists the Fraud Unit with returns for fraudulent transactions.
Assists with other Deposit Operations functions as needed.
Minimum knowledge/skills:
Associate’s degree in business administration or equivalent work experience
ACH knowledge normally acquired through 2-3 years related banking experience.
Banking Operations experience preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven ability to perform highly accurate, detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks with competing deadlines.
Experience in compiling detailed information from multiple sources.
Proven ability in building and maintaining effective working relationships within the department as well as throughout the entire company. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Accounting knowledge, including general ledger, accounts reconciliation and accounting entries
