Job Summary
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Accountant I - AP in the Finance Department. The successful candidate will pay great attention to detail and have excellent time management skills. This position performs specialized duties in support of the county’s finance operations primarily Accounts Payable.Major Job Duties
- Reviews and processes voucher packets and invoices; performs significant data entry for generation of bi-monthly check runs.
- Enters and updates vendor information in accounting software system.
- Reviews and reconciles monthly bills.
- Maintains and reconciles vendor invoices and accounts.
- Prepares and distributes annual tax documents for appropriate vendors.
- Assists with annual fiscal year-end financial audit.
- Assists with annual worker’s compensation audit.
- Assists with the preparation of journal entries and various allocation spreadsheets; prepares vouchers for allotment payments.
- Receives; researches; and resolves a variety of internal and external inquiries related to account status.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of job-related federal and state tax requirements.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the preparation of clear and precise reports.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associates degree in a course of study related to the occupational field preferred.
- More than one year of related experience required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting; standing; or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
Salary & Benefits
This is a full-time position with a minimum annual compensation of $44,324.80 (pay grade 14A). The work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday working at the Liberty County Courthouse Annex in downtown Hinesville Georgia.Liberty County government offers competitive salaries and a generous benefits package to full-time permanent employees which includes:
