What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gifted Elementary Education Teacher - TCE position at Liberty County School System?
Terms of Employment: 190-Day Calendar - Salary is commensurate with certification level and verifiable years of experience.
Job Goal: To provide an appropriate educational program for eligible exceptional learners and stimulate the spirit of inquiry, the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, and the formulation of worthy goals in the students of Liberty County Schools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Professional Georgia Teaching Certificate; Gifted In-field and Elementary Ed Certification.
2. The ability to work successfully with other professionals. Proven organizational skills, effective oral and written communication and strong people skills
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
- Adheres to local school/and program procedures and regulations.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Plans and prepares lesson plans and related activities for individual students or assigned classes.
- Guides the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals; establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and communicates these objectives to students.
- Engages in a variety of instructional techniques based on needs and capabilities of students.
- Grades work completed by students; maintains accurate records of test scores / grades.
- Assesses students’ performance on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Reports suspected learning difficulties and other concerns to appropriate school personnel as needed.
- Maintains accurate, complete and up-to-date records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulation.
- Assists the school administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct; develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Effectively communicates with parents and other groups as appropriate; schedules and conducts parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintains inventory of classroom supplies and equipment.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Participates in staff in-service training and continuing education as required.
- Provides appropriate lessons for substitute teachers as needed.
- Operates various types of equipment including a computer, printer, copier, various curriculum-specific equipment or instruments, etc.
- Exhibits professionalism in all job related situations; follows professional ethics in all work related activities; presents a personal appearance which enhances the image of the school.
- Assumes some outside the classroom school responsibilities as needed
- Adheres to local school procedures and regulations in a supportive manner; demonstrates loyalty to the school and its leadership; avoids behavior which detracts from staff morale, works cooperatively with colleagues and the community; helps maintain a positive, cooperative climate.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent of Schools
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal.
