Job Goal: This position is intended to provide instructional support for school staff in order to increase student achievement in grades K-5 for English Language Arts (ELA).
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Professional Georgia Teaching Certificate with an English Language Arts emphasis (Minimum certification T-5)
2. Master’s Degree or higher in an educational field
3. Minimum of five years satisfactory teaching experience
4. Proficient skills in communication, collaboration, documentation, organization, mediation, technology, and data analysis
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Assists with development, implementation and monitoring of the District ELA Improvement Plan.
- Conduct school and classroom walkthroughs and provide feedback.
- Works cooperatively with K-5 school administrators, site academic specialists, and literacy coaches providing model lessons, support, training, coaching, and mentoring services based upon identified needs of teachers.
- Supports teachers in ELA content, strategies and best practices.
- Understands the Science of Reading and supports teachers in foundational literacy skills implementation.
- Supports schools in the literacy bill requirements and supports literacy coaches to meet requirements.
- Develops and implements professional learning for K-5 based on the SIP and data from walkthrough observations, benchmarks and standardized test scores.
- Researches strategies for improving student achievement in grades K-5 and literacy foundations.
- Facilitates the development of curriculum resources for K-5 English Language Arts.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work: Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
