Liberty Dental Plan is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer, preferably located near Dallas, TX.
The Principal Systems Engineer role is focused on the design, implementation, and optimization of the company's data center and cloud infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of key infrastructure components, and will work with cross-functional teams to meet evolving business needs. The Principal Engineer will have the opportunity to work in both cloud and on-premises environments, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies to drive efficiency and support business operations.
Job Summary Details
- Designs and implements data center and cloud infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage systems, and network devices, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Collaborates with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Monitors, optimizes, and maintains system performance, capacity, and efficiency to ensure minimal downtime and maximize resource usage.
- Supports and expands existing disaster recovery and data protection strategies to ensure business continuity.
- Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.
- Performs 3rd level engineering support for infrastructure systems and related products.
- Documents the conceptual, physical, and logical configuration of vendor products, in-house solutions, and other technical components with necessary and sufficient detail.
- Designs, writes, implements, and performs backup and restore procedures, and monitors related processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 15 years' in Infrastructure Engineering, with significant hands-on experience in technical problem-solving.
Specific Skills/Knowledge
- Expert knowledge of infrastructure, operating systems, telecommunications networks, and specialized systems administration.
- Expert knowledge of the definition, design, and implementation of infrastructure and solutions.
- Working knowledge of database management or administration and source control.
- Expert knowledge of current system administration tools and scripting languages.
- Detailed knowledge of system backup, recovery, and storage administration.
Location
Our employees are distributed in office locations in multiple markets across the United States. We are unable to hire or allow employees to work outside of the United States. This Remote position will support our Data Center and may need to be onsite occasionally, in the Dallas, TX area. Preference will be given to those qualified and residing in the desired geographical location.

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $191,000, not including fringe benefits or potential bonuses. At Liberty, your final base salary will be determined by factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We are committed to pay equity and also consider the internal equity of our current team members when making final compensation decisions.
Please note that the range listed represents the full base salary range for this role. Typically, offers are not made at the top of the range to allow for future salary growth.
