We are seeking a dedicated and patient Instructional Assistant (IA) to provide one-on-one support to a 5th-grade student with Autism in Bangor, PA .This role is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about special education and making a direct impact on a student's academic and social growth.
Position Details:
- Location: Bangor, PA 18013
- Schedule: 3 hours/day, 5 days/week (Monday – Friday)
- Setting: In-Person, Home - Based
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized academic and behavioral support to help the student stay engaged in the classroom.
- Assist with communication and social skill development, fostering positive interactions with peers and staff.
- Implement structured learning strategies to accommodate the student's unique learning style.
- Reinforce classroom lessons and support the student in completing assignments.
- Work closely with the teacher, support staff, and family to ensure a consistent approach to learning and behavioral support.
- Encourage independence and confidence while maintaining a structured, supportive environment.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback on the student’s achievements and challenges.
Qualifications:
✅ Previous experience working with students with Autism or other special needs preferred.
✅ Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
✅ Ability to adapt to the student’s learning style and provide creative, engaging support.
✅ Knowledge of behavioral strategies and classroom accommodations is a plus.
✅ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education or a related field is a plus.
✅ Ability to pass required background checks and clearances.
